Service Above Self
Once again, one of the Masters Leadership Program’s (MLP’s) graduates has been recognized for service to the community. Class XV Graduate, Mike Gilliam, was recently presented with the San Antonio Rotary Club’s Annual FY2022 “Service Above Self” Award, given to a Rotarian who epitomizes the Rotary Motto throughout the year.
During the twelve-month period (July 2021-June 2022), Mike logged nearly 200 hours of devoted community service to the Club. For the third consecutive year, he served as Co-Chair of the Program Committee, responsible for coordinating over 40 diverse, informative and entertaining presentations each year. He was also an integral member of the “Rotary 2030” Strategic Planning Group, which developed a ten-year plan for the Club.
His Program Committee Co-Chair, Armen Babajanian, said “Whether it’s leading a key initiative or just cleaning up after an event, Mike simply loves to serve. If more leaders had his work ethic and selflessness, our community would be a better place.”
Mike also serves on the MLP Board and five of its committees, as well as being Class XV’s Co-Class Manager for the MLP Alumni Association. As Mike describes his service experiences, “MLP does such an amazing job of providing the critical board leadership to thousands of non-profits. Having been the CEO of a non-profit, fortunate enough to have 12 MLP graduates on our board, there’s no question our success was directly attributable to their leadership and support.”
Non-Profit Organization Featured: Rotary Club International’s mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
